Gingerbread Friends

I read to Amelia's class Friday afternoon. We chose the book Gingerbread Friends.

We made gingerbread cookies Thursday morning to take in. I used this recipe that substitutes honey for molasses. The cookies turned out really well. They were firm but chewy, with a spicy/honey/even slightly salty taste that was yummy. I was very proud because historically, I am not a great baker. I guess having so much "help" helps. (We had to vacuum twice during the cookie making process.)

Below are some pictures of us before school Friday morning. Amelia still loves her read Christmas dress and will wear it every chance she gets.

She took this picture of Caillou all by herself. Below are our hands. We draw pictures on each other's hands before school so we can think about each other all day. This makes Amelia very happy and gets me a lot of interesting looks and questions.

First Day of Preschool

Amelia was very "exciting." This is how she says she is excited.

We have visited the school, a small Montessori-style school only 4 blocks from our house, many times over the past couple of months and weeks. Amelia was literally squealing with joy when I told her today was the day she got to stay there without me.

When I dropped her off, she accepted her hug and kiss, then looked at me expectantly. So I left.
