For all you other mommies out there: how much did your new babies cry? (I am starting to feel like Amelia cries all the time!!! This is an exageration, of course, but she does cry a lot. I am starting to wonder what is normal.)

As I've said a million times, I got lucky. Oliver didn't cry a whole lot. 90% of the time it was wanting to eat or needing to be put down to sleep (though early on he just fell asleep anywhere). There was little "fussing." It makes me fearful to have more -- I know I'll get my due!
Mine cried a LOT in the few weeks preceding a diagnosis of reflux- then became angel babies who hardly cried within a week of being put on medicine for it. Give me a call if you want to. At first with Darci they said, "probably a little colic," then when I changed my diet and it still got worse, we progressed to "probably reflux."
I've had two different babies, so I have two different answers. Austen spent more time crying when awake than he did happy and calm. He didn't cry when he was breastfeeding or asleep, so I breastfed him a lot. Although this can sometimes be a sign of acid reflux, in his case it was "colic," which I've come to believe is a neurological/sensory thing. Some babies are just way sensitive to stimuli.
Janie cried only when she was hungry or tired, so I'd feed her or put her to bed. Janie spent more time happily awake than awake and crying.
